Pillar, Cathedral Quarry

Not far from the well trodden tourist path of Slaters Bridge resides Cathedral Quarry, a labyrinth of tunnels and paths network this redundant Slate Quarry with the most impressive opening up to reveal the main chamber and the “Pillar.” Aptly named it’s the main single standing support for the chamber, in this shot the solid mass of slate is highlighted by shafts of light entering through tunnels at higher levels.
