Lammerside Castle, Mallerstang

Lammerside Castle lies on a gentle hill side that slopes down to the river Eden, North Mallerstang. Built in the 12th Century the Castle/pele tower was fortified and strenghthened in the 14th century to provide protection from the raiding scots into the area, it’s this fortification that has probably helped the ruined remains stand the test of time.
