Exposed film is loaded onto spools in total darkness, 1 roll of 120 film per tank, this way the film development/ time/ temperature can be adjusted for each roll to control negative density. The negative developer used also plays an important part dependant on the subject.. whether you require high acutance or fine grain, this coupled with the dev/ time gives full control of the process to produce a negative that prints to requirements. After the development the tank is drained and the development is arrested by an acid stopbath for 30 seconds, drained again before the film is fixed in ammonium thiosulphate to make the negative image permanent. The film is then washed for 20 minutes followed by a wetting agent to aid even drying without stains or streaks, the film is then left overnight in a dust free cabinet to dry.
